Insightful Analytix Director takes on The Amity Challenge

Turning 60 is a huge milestone, and for many, it is a chance to celebrate with a fancy meal or a luxurious holiday. However, for Chris Coan, Chester Business Club Member and Director of Insightful Analytix, his 60th birthday has meant something entirely different, he has chosen to take on The Amity Challenge. Following his diagnosis of prostate cancer 3 years ago, his entire outlook has changed and he believes that life is about caring for others and challenging yourself to contribute on a broader social basis, but he needs your support.

Chris’s dear friend, Mark ‘Foxy’ Fearnall, was also diagnosed with prostate cancer at the same time and unfortunately, was not able to continue fighting the battle. This, alongside losing loved ones and other friends over the years, Emyr Jones and Nicola (of Nicola’s Fund), has prompted Chris to take part in the challenge. Cancer has touched everyone in some way or another and Chris is determined to bring some support to families who have been affected and are looking for collective harmony in their time of great need.

The Amity Challenge will take place from the 24th of September until the 26th and will be an intense physical journey across Chester and The Llyn Peninsula. The challenge will begin with a two-hour bike time trial on day one, starting and finishing in Christleton at The Ring O’Bells. Day two will consist of a bike ride from Chester to Abersoch, through Snowdonia, and on day three the participants will take on a half marathon from The Vaynol, Abersoch to The Ty Coch, Morfa Nefyn.

Chris will be raising money for two charities that are both incredibly close to his heart. The money from his sponsorships will be split equally between Nightingale House and Nicola’s Fund, to provide personal and family care during the palliative stage of life, to give both respite and positive memories to individuals and loved ones.

Chris is looking for others that wish to participate, whether that is physically or virtually, and also for both personal and business donations and sponsorships. For more information on how you can take part or support Chris in his challenge, contact Carl Hamill ([email protected]) or Ella Coan ([email protected]).
