CBC Member Spotlight. Andy Piggott

The members of Chester Business Club are business leaders from a wide range of sectors and professions. We are publishing a series of “Member Spotlight” interviews with Club members, this time with Andy Piggott, Managing Director of Grosvenor Insurance Brokers in York Street, Chester.

Q: Andy, tell us a bit about your background and how you got into insurance.

I started in the insurance industry in 1978. It’s been quite a journey since then.  I started my own business in Chester in 1985 which was sold to a major player in 2008.  I decided to go again and formed Grosvenor Insurance in 2013.

Q: What makes Grosvenor Insurance different from other brokers?

We pride ourselves on being independent and client-focused. Our approach is very much about understanding the individual needs of our clients—whether they’re businesses or private individuals—and building insurance solutions around them. We don’t do “off-the-shelf.” Everything is tailored and our clients appreciate our first-class service.

Q: You recently joined the JMG Group. What prompted that move?

It was a strategic decision to secure the long-term future of the business and our team. Joining JMG has given us access to more resources and support, while still allowing us to operate with the same independence and values that our clients appreciate. It’s been a great fit.

Q: What areas of insurance do you specialise in?

We cover a wide range, from commercial and property insurance to more niche areas like equine and high-net-worth personal cover. One of our strengths is helping clients who don’t fit the usual mould—those who need something a bit more complex or unusual.  I’ve always loved solving problems!

Q: You’ve worked with some well-known local businesses too, haven’t you?

Yes, we’ve built some fantastic relationships over the years.  We work with many well known local businesses.  We are the insurance partners for Ash Group, The Bolesworth Estate and Micheal Owens Manor House Stables to name a few.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love working with our team and our clients. Every day is different, and there’s always a new challenge to solve. I also enjoy being part of the Chester business community—it’s a great place to work and connect.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I am Liverpool FC season ticket holder and a member of Chester Golf Club.  I like to spend as much time as I can with my six grandchildren. I also, like to support the local business and charity community as much as I can.

Q: And finally, Andy, you’re a long-standing and loyal member of the Chester Business Club.  Tell us why!

I’ve been a member of the Chester Business Club for as long as I can remember!  I’m very proud of our Chester roots and our place in the local business community.  I enjoyed serving on the Chester Business Club Executive Council some years ago and look forward to supporting the Club in years to come.
