Charity Walk on Course to Raise £15,000 for Charity

Chester Business Club’s annual Charity Walk saw over 200 people – and 28 dogs – step out to raise funds for local Chester charities.

Starting from Chester University’s Riverside Campus, the six-mile course took walkers up the Duke’s Drive, through Eccleston Village, along the Meadows and back to the university campus.

This annual event – sponsored by Grosvenor Shopping Centre – features four refreshment stages: chocolate bars, orange juice, bacon butties and coffee, and finishing with a refreshing gin and tonic.

The funds raised were in support of the Club’s 2018 nominated charities (Claire House Children’s Hospice, Woodwork2Well, Chester Samaritans, Save The Family, Chester Sports Association for People with Disability and Bridge Wellness Gardens.

Other charities taking part, raising funds for their own coffers, included Cheshire Wildlife Trust, ICU Steps Chester, Vision Support, ChAPS, Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Diabetes UK, Chester Sexual Abuse Support Services and Soldiers Off The Streets.

The Refreshment sponsors were Matthews of Chester (choc bars), Russell & Russell Solicitors (orange juice), The Mill Hotel (bacon butties & coffee) and Steelforce UK (Gin & Tonic).

Business Club chairman Paddy Gill said, ‘It was a great day and early indications are that we are course to raise £15,000 for the charities.’
