Chester Business Club Elects New Chairman

 There was a full-house attendance in the new event marquee at Boughton Hall Cricket Club for the AGM/Charity Cheque Dinner of the influential Chester Business Club. 

The Lord Mayor of Chester & Lady Mayoress (Cllr Martyn Delaney and Mrs Carol Berry) were guests of honour and the event was chaired by CBC President Julie Mogan.

The AGM saw the election of Roy Shelton (MD, DropJaw Ventures) as the new Club Chairman, and the re-election of John Ireston (UHY Hacker Young Chartered Account-ants) as Club Treasurer and Jan Chillery (Aaron & Partners) as the Club’s Solicitor.

Following the meeting, cheques were presented to representatives of the Club’s nomi-nated charities for 2019 – Bridge Wellness Gardens, Chester Sports Association for Peo-ple with Disability, Chester Sexual Abuse Support Services and Chester Aid to the Homeless. The Hospice of the Good Shepherd also received a cheque for £4200 from an online Charity Quiz the Club organised. 

Bob Clough-Parker, Club Secretary, said “Despite the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown, which prevented us from holding ‘live’ events for over 15 months, the Club is in good heart and continues to attract leading businessmen and women into our membership ranks.”
