After the Covid-enforced cancellation of so many Club events, we are pleased to announce the revival of our programme of Club Dinners by welcoming Jackie Weaver (Chief Officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils), the unlikely viral phenomenon on handling sudden fame [’You have no authority here, Jackie Weaver!] and dealing with difficult people – including her own mother!
The engagingly improbable internet star who found herself on a fast track to fame when a Zoom meeting of the Handforth parish council meeting, which she was over- seeing, went viral. Her calm banishment of troublesome and shouty men, along with her humour, has won her many admirers.
Her instant fame has led to her appearing on Celebrity Mastermind, The News Quiz, Have I Got News For You, Steph’s Packed Lunch, Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year and numerous other TV and radio programmes.
Jackie wants to inspire women to stand for public office. Too often, she says, women step back, bow out and listen to the negative voices, external ones – as heard in her now-infamous parish council meeting – and internal voices.
