Benison Day Nursery has adopted the motto ‘Survive, Revive and Thrive’ even in these uncertain times we are all living in. Benison has been delivering the highest quality child care and pre-school education to parents, children and companies for over 34 years. Located just minutes from the prestigious Chester Business Park, Benison is consistently OFSTED rated ‘Outstanding’.
Benison’s Principal, Julie Swinnerton who is also The Chairman of Chester Business Club said, “Since lockdown was first announced it has certainly been a most challenging experience for us all. However at Benison we have always had a ‘can do’ attitude and always look for the positives in any situation we face. Necessity is certainly the mother of invention and when the going gets tough, the team at Benison get going!”
Benison started out back in 1986 with just 24 children and four staff. Over the years the business has expanded in size and its reputation has grown along with it. Benison is now seen as one of the highest quality providers in Cheshire and the team of 38 staff are very proud of its reputation.
Baby, Toddlers and Nursery Class are housed in three separate buildings each with their own gardens and are well equipped to meet the needs of each individual age range. Staff are heartened by the number of enquiries and forward bookings being received despite the current economic climate. Nursery Manager, Jan Tunnicliffe said “We are not surprised that Benison continues to flourish with the outstanding team of high qualified and experienced staff and pride ourselves in encouraging continual professional development of all our team. Many staff throughout the setting have degrees in Early Years including two fully qualified teachers who work with our pre-school children.”
Benison now accepts two year old funding in addition to the three and four year old funding along with Childcare Vouchers & Government Tax Free Childcare Payments.
As well as providing quality care for children birth to school age, Benison also provides morning and after school care and holiday clubs and camps for children aged 5 – 10 years in all school holidays. Benison also has its own Forest School with two fully qualified Forest Leaders and its own Cookery School with a qualified chef and teacher. Benison has its own fruit trees, herb garden and vegetable garden and the children love getting involved in Gardening Club. Produce grown in the gardens are then utilised in the nursery kitchen where nutritious food is cooked by their chef daily. Produce is also used in the Cookery School where children learn where food comes from, healthy eating habits and skills to prepare their own creations.
Benison is also now beginning to work with local companies to assess their need for quality local childcare provision for their staff during the school holiday periods. Julie Swinnerton said, “many companies struggle when key members of their team all need to book holidays to care for school age children during non term time periods. This can leave companies in a predicament and so we are now looking to work closely with local companies to provide advanced purchase and block booking Holiday Clubs providing peace of mind for the employers and employees”
Nursery Manager Jan Tunnicliffe went on to say, “at Benison we never rest on our laurels and assume that our reputation will carry us forward. We are always looking to improve our service. We also realise that our most prized assets are our staff. We are blessed with a team of long term, dedicated professional that we are proud to call ‘The Benison Family’, without them all we have achieved would not be possible”
Survive and Thrive it is then!
