CBC Member Spotlight. Richard Knew

Knew Productions

The members of Chester Business Club are business leaders from a wide range of sectors and professions. This is the first of a series of “Member Spotlight” interviews with Club members, starting with Richard Knew of Knew Productions.  Richard has been producing award-winning videos for business for over 25 years, working with clients throughout the UK and abroad.

Knew Productions had a record-breaking 2024. What do you think drove that success?

Richard Knew: 2024 was an incredible year for us, and I believe our success was driven by the growing recognition of video as an essential marketing tool. Businesses across industries are realising that high-quality video content is a powerful way to engage audiences and tell their stories effectively. Winning the Business Growth Award at the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce Recognition Awards was a fantastic validation of the hard work our team has put in.

With such rapid growth, how is Knew Productions adapting in 2025?

Richard: We’re making strategic moves to sustain and build on this momentum. One key step is the appointment of Brian Rothera as our new commercial manager. His extensive background in the pharmaceutical sector will help us expand our reach in that industry, as well as our other key sectors manufacturing, construction and professional services. We’re also actively looking to grow our production team, particularly by bringing in an additional video editor to meet the increasing demand.

Technology in video production is evolving rapidly. How is Knew Productions staying ahead?

Richard: Innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our post-production manager, Aaron O’Carroll, has been instrumental in adopting the latest video technologies, including AI-powered workflow enhancements and our new FPV (First Person View) drone service. This cutting-edge drone gives us the ability to capture dynamic shots in tight spaces, creating visually stunning content that truly stands out.

You’ve worked at some iconic locations. What have been some of your most memorable projects?

Richard: We’ve had the privilege of filming at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, over our 25 years in business, including Silverstone, Ascot, Anfield and Wimbledon. Next month we’re excited to be capturing a business conference at Wembley Stadium. Each location brings its own challenges and opportunities and we thrive on capturing the excitement of these incredible spaces for our clients.

Knew Productions isn’t just about traditional corporate videos. What other services do you offer?

Richard: Absolutely. While promotional videos for websites and LinkedIn remain a big part of our work, we’re niching too. We’ve introduced a highly confidential filming service for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as specialized content for training and health and safety. Our goal is to create video solutions that add real value to businesses.

Finally, what excites you most about 2025?

Richard: The possibilities! Video is evolving at an incredible pace, and businesses are becoming more open to creative storytelling. We’re excited to push boundaries with new technologies, expand into new industries, and continue delivering content that makes an impact. 2025 is shaping up to be another landmark year for Knew Productions.

Thank you, Richard!
