Charity Walk On Course To Raise £17000 For Local Good Causes

Chester Business Club’s annual Charity Walk saw over 250 – and 39 family dogs – step out to raise funds for local Chester good causes.

Starting from Chester Racecourse the six-mile course took walkers up the Duke’s Drive, through Eccleston Village, along the Meadows to the Finish at the University Riverside Campus.

This annual event – sponsored by Grosvenor Shopping Centre – featured four refreshment stages: chocolate bars (sponsored by Matthews of Chester Estate Agents), orange juice (sponsored by Russell & Russell Solicitors), bacon butties and coffee (sponsored by The Mill Hotel and Spa), and finishing with a refreshing gin and tonic (sponsored by Steelforce UK).

The funds raised were in support of the Club’s 2019 nominated charities:

  • Hospice of the Good Shepherd;
  • Countess of Chester Charity;
  • Bridge Wellness Gardens;
  • Chester Sports Association for People With Disabilities;
  • Neuro Therapy Centre;
  • Share;
  • West Cheshire Foodbank; and
  • We Mind The Gap.

Other charities taking part, raising funds for their own coffers, included Chester Samaritans, ChAPS, ICE Steps Chester, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Chester Sexual Abuse Support Services, Chester Women’s Aid, Live!, Richmond Fellowhip, and Alzheimer’s Society.

Business Club chairman, Julie Swinnerton, said of the event: ‘It was a great day, the weather held, everyone enjoyed the event and, most importantly, early indications are the Walk is on course to raise £17,000 for the charities’.
