Drainage Tunnel Update
Work is progressing on the construction of the first 5 drainage tunnel shafts along the inner ring road and on the HQ Roundabout.
The concrete collars and rings are being formed up to 7m wide and will extend to a depth of between 7 and 12m. The tunnelling works between the shafts are planned to commence in early April. We hope to confirm further timescales in March.

In total we will install over 300 tonnes of steel, this is the equivalent weight of 75 adult Asian elephants from Chester Zoo, and enough concrete to fill the Northgate Arena swimming pool 2 times over!

Chester has been judged as one of the UK’s leading shopping locations despite the ongoing pandemic and best in the North West. The city has been ranked as Britain’s 20th best performing retail centre out of a list of 1,000 compiled by strategic retail property consultancy, Harper Dennis Hobbs (HDH).
Chester was also recently named as the best place to live in the North West and the third in the country behind Aberdeen and Bristol in the Property Week Hot Housing Index for 2020, a climb of 5 places from 2019.
