Walkers on Course to Raise £20,000 for Local Charities

Over 250 Chester Business Club members, families and colleagues – as well as more than 35 dogs of various shapes and sizes – took part in the Club’s annual Chester Charity Walk.

Early estimates indicate that they are on course to raise in excess of £20,000.

In addition to the Club’s 2017 nominated charities – Chester Samaritans, Bridge Community Farm, Claire House Children’s Hospice, Save The Family, Chester Sports Association for People with Disability, Chester Retreat House and Hospice of The Good Shepherd – a dozen other local charities entered walkers who raised money for their own coffers on a ‘self help’ basis.

Club chairman Paddy Gill said, “The Walk is one of the ways in which Chester Business Club is able to show our support for the local community at large and, not least, to help raise funds for some of the worthiest of local charitable causes.”

In addition to children’s face-painters, the Walk featured the Club’s legendary refreshment stops: Mars Bars, Orange Juice, Bacon Butties & Coffee and finishing with a welcome Gin & Tonic.

Grosvenor Shopping Centre were, once again, sponsors of the Walk and the refreshments stages were sponsored by Matthews of Chester Estate Agents, Russell & Russell Solicitors and The Mill Hotel.
